West Kimberley Regional Prison (WKRP) is located 2,380 kilometres north of Perth, near Derby. It holds prisoners of all security ratings and has capacity for 183 males and 40 females.

WKRP was built to be the main custodial facility for the Kimberley region. The prison’s ethos was to: have an innovative Aboriginal focus; hold Kimberley prisoners in country; develop their independent living skills and self-determination; and reduce the likelihood of them returning to custody.
